Legal expenses
Most policies will have some sort of provision for covering
the legal cost of pursuing claims for compensation and/or
damages if you are killed, injured or become ill when on holiday.
The insurer will probably want to be convinced that you have
a winnable case and may wish to take control of any legal
proceedings by appointing the lawyers and so on. It is in
the insurer’s interests to include this sort of cover
because any legal costs your insurer incurs in fighting your
case will be included in the compensation and paid direct
to the insurer, which can deduct its costs before passing
the remainder to you. Free advice for legal problems related
to your travel cover under the policy may also be available
under this part of the policy. Legal expenses for action unrelated
to the policy or legal action against your travel company
or insurer will not be covered. |
