Tied to a travel
agent for Travel Insurance?
Some travel agents offer discounted holidays to customers
only if they buy the travel agent’s in-house insurance
(although this is an improvement on the situation years ago
where they could refuse to sell you any holiday unless you
bought their insurance). Unless the cost of the compulsory
insurance is included in the discounted price of the holiday
or made very clear at the outset, you could find that the
cost of the insurance pushes up the price of the holiday by
around 40 per cent. More importantly, you may find that the
compulsory insurance does not give you the cover you need.
