What travel
insurance does not cover
• Travel insurance does not cover you when driving
abroad because this cover is provided by your car or motorbike
insurance. No policy will meet claims made as a result of
war (which includes general hostilities, civil war, rebellion,
revolution, insurrection or military or usurped power),
so if you were caught in the cross-fire of a military coup,
for example, any claim for injuries would be rejected. You
will typically find that the policy will not pay out for
any claims as a result of:
• HIV, HIV-related illnesses and AIDS
• Being detained or having belongings confiscated
or destroyed by Customs or any other government officials
• Damage suffered by you or your belongings where
caused by radioactive contamination from nuclear fuel, waste
or installation
• Loss owing to exchange rates moving against you
• Hiring a moped (although medical bills may be covered)
• Travel in the UK
As well as the general exclusions, each section of a travel
insurance document – or policy within a policy –
has its own terms and conditions which are discussed in
more detail below. |
